Before opening oda in 2019, the owner and chef Marina Cardak and her spouse ran Chicago’s favorite Turkish Cuisine restaurant in Andersonville for 15 years.

Born and raised in Turkey’s neighboring country Georgia, renowned for its hospitality and the invention of wine, Marina decided to reach down to her roots and bring the best of its legacy into a single menu of Oda.

Oda has many meanings in the Mediterranean and neighboring peoples’ heritages. Odas were poems of admiration in ancient Greece and the word itself denoted an accommodation in Turkish and Georgian etymology.
